Yale Physics professor and W1YU faculty member Steve Lamoreaux KZ1S explains the physics of football on ESPN.

NFL television analyst Tony Romo has nothing on Yale’s own Steve Lamoreaux, KZ1S, professor of physics, and member of Yale’s Wright Lab.  In a segment that aired on ESPN’s NFL Countdown on November 21, Steve explained the science (trigonometry essentially) on the “chase down” also known as “hawking.”

VE Session - December 31, 2021 at the Meriden Amateur Radio Club, Wallingford, CT.

Looking to sit for your Technician license exam or upgrade your ticket during the holiday season?  The Meriden Amateur Radio Club, an affiliate of W1YU, will be holding a VE session on Saturday December 11 at 9:00 am at the Yalesville firehouse Emergency Management building at 143 Hope Hill Road in Wallingford.

W1YU Net Control Operators Sought

W1YU is seeking members interested in volunteering to be net control operator for the Tuesday night Yale Net, the longest contiguously running weekly collegiate ham radio net.

Being a net control station is surprisingly easy and fun.  Looking for a new challenge?  Eager to help out your W1YU?  All you need is a 2M handheld or access to the internet and the initiative to serve.
