Seeking W1YU History & Volunteers for Boxboro

July 8, 2016

We have begun compiling the history of the Amateur Radio Club at Yale for the upcoming joint presentation with the Harvard Wireless Club, W1AF, at the ARRL New England Convention to be held in Boxboro, Sept. 9 - 11, 2016.  (www.boxboro.org)

W1YU has a rich history going back to 1931 when it was first organized as an ARRL affiliated club.  If you were a member of W1YU in the past, or are a current member, and have information about the clubs history or photos you can share, please contact James M. Surprenant at ab1dq@arrl.net.

We are also looking for members who would like to participate in the presentation which is tentatively scheduled for Sunday September 11 at 10:00 am.  After our presentation we will be hosting a round-table discussion with members, officers and trustees of other New England collegiate amateur radio clubs to discuss the state of amateur radio on campus and to brainstorm ways to build up student participation, grow our clubs, and to enable universities and colleges to lead the way in amateur radio education again.
